Raise Your Flag
Independence Day is one of the most important anniversaries in Philippine history because it commemorates the country's independence from Spanish domination on June 12, 1898. The Filipinos commemorate it every year on June 12th. On August 4, 1964, former President Diosdado Macapagal signed Republic Act No. 4166, which established the annual June 12 commemoration of Philippine Independence Day. This Act made the holiday legitimate, which commemorates General Emilio Aguinaldo's and Filipino revolutionary forces' declaration of independence from Spanish domination on June 12, 1898.
In 1898, the Philippine flag was flown for the first time, and the national song was played for the first time. The statement was not recognized by Spain or the United States, hence liberty was short-lived. The Treaty of Paris, signed in 1898, put an end to the conflict between Spain and the United States. The Philippines' whole archipelago was handed up to the United States by Spain. In 1899, the Philippines revolted against the United States, and the Treaty of Manila granted them national sovereignty on July 4, 1946.
Independence Day was officially observed on July 4 until August 4, 1964, when Republic Act No. 4166 was passed, relocating the holiday to June 12. The Republic of the Philippines' Flag, which represents the country, is comprised of the following elements: Peace, honesty, and justice are symbolized by the royal blue field. Patriotism and valor are symbolized by the scarlet crimson field. Equality and brotherhood are symbolized by the white triangle. The three main geographical regions of the country, namely Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, are represented by three stars on the triangle's corners. The sun in the triangle's center features eight rays, each signifying one of the eight Philippine provinces that led the uprising against Spain. During the Philippines' Independence Day celebrations, the flag can be seen in a variety of locations around the country's villages and cities.
